3 "unprofessional" reasons we swapped roads for trails

Let’s be honest for a second. Why did we actually start trail running?
Was it the peak physical conditioning?
Was it the peak physical conditioning?
The cardiovascular benefits?
The pursuit of personal bests?
Maybe.
But if we’re being real, most of us are here because a friend promised us there would be snacks. As one of our team members recently put it: “I got into trail running because my friend told me we could stop for snacks. Mid-run naps make me love it even more.”
Trail running isn't just a sport; it’s a snack-based adventure where the elevation is high, but the pressure to perform is non-existent.
Some people call it "ultramarathon training."
We call it a really long, complicated picnic.
Whether you’re running through the Himalaya or your local state park, the tactics remain the same: run, eat, admire the view, maybe take a 5-minute dirt nap, and repeat.
Because let’s face it: Road running can be… well, a bit boring.
All those loops.
All that concrete.
All that staring at your watch.
One runner summed it up perfectly: “Road sucks the pleasure out of running. Trail is where I feel most alive!”
On the trails, your GPS watch is basically just a glorified bracelet. Who cares if your mile split was 14 minutes because you had to scramble up a rock face and stop to look at a cool bird?
That’s the beauty of it. It’s dynamic, it’s skill-based, and every single step is different. It’s the only sport where you can be "in torture" climbing a relentless hill, yet still think, "This is the best day of my life."
It’s about that mental reset.
In a world full of noise, the trails allow us to be free and connected. As one runner said, “You’re concentrating so much you can’t think about anything except the run
You’re not just "running"—you’re navigating unexpected twists, turns, and terrain that requires 100% of your focus. You’re getting that grit and respect that road runners just don’t understand. You’re finding yourself in the middle of nowhere.
And the best part?
The people. The trail community is, hands down, the best crowd. Everyone is nice, the vibes are high, and we’re all just a bunch of weirdos who enjoy running through mud for fun.
Whether you’re in it for the "snack-based activity," the fresh air, or the sheer adventure of not knowing what’s around the next bend, we’ve got the gear to match your vibe.
Stop worrying about the pace.
Start worrying about which flavor of granola bar you're bringing.
P.S. In case you forgot: your GPS watch is not the boss of you. If you’re ready to stop staring at your wrist and start staring at the views, these shirts were made for your next "happy pace" outing. ❤️
